February 2007 - The Learning Barge
Students from the University of Virginia School of Architecture exhibited their research and designs for The Learning Barge - an innovative, floating environmental education field station completely powered by wind and solar power. In partnership with the Elizabeth River Project and under the guidance of Architecture Professor Phoebe Crisman, the Learning Barge's integrated curriculum will teach K-12 students about ongoing restoration efforts on the Elizabeth River - the most polluted tributary of the Chesapeake Bay.
