Design Marathon
On October 10, 2008, the CCDC partnered with Alloy Workshop to host the first annual Design Marathon. Teams of local professional and student designers volunteered 10 hours to work side by side with 10 Charlottesville area nonprofit clients. Over the course of the day, each team produced materials – from logos to facility designs – which will enhance the ability of a local nonprofit to conduct its work in the community. The success of the day lay not only in the final designs, but also in providing local designers with an outlet for sharing their talents for the greater good. Final designs were displayed in the CCDC gallery for two months, showcasing nonprofits, designers, and the important role design plays in everyday life. We are grateful for the ability to have supported this collaborative effort in giving back to Charlottesville, and thankful for the volunteers who gave their time for such a worthy cause.
